About Tyler

Film & Game Composer | Independent Artist

Tyler is an award-winning composer for film, games and television. His music deepens visual storytelling’s extraordinary capacity to expand our realities and shape our self-understanding. As a sonic miner, Tyler extracts the most vital emotions from every scene and uncovers the unique richness in each story. Enticed by texture and rhythm, he continually finds new sounds to create layered, detailed musical landscapes.

In 2020, he was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Score in recognition of his work on the documentary film, The Last Ice. Tyler frequently collaborates with celebrated composer Pinar Toprak on projects such as The Lost City, Slumberland, Disney World’s EPCOT theme park, and co-composing the Netflix docuseries Our Living World.

Tyler has also written additional music for the hit Netflix series Outer Banks and Biohackers. Tyler worked with Oscar-nominated composer James Newton Howard on films including News of the World, Jungle Cruise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and Terrence Malick’s A Hidden Life.

Tyler earned a bachelor’s degree in music composition with a minor in recording arts from Missouri State University, and an MFA degree in music composition for the screen at Columbia College Chicago.

Independent Work

As an emerging independent artist under the name LIMINA, Tyler released his first E.P., Hidden Spaces, in fall 2020.
